4 Aligning Struggles

Corporate greed and exploitation sacrifice people and places. In North Carolina, we engage directly and align around four extractive and polluting industries that threaten the health of all living beings and contribute to global climate change. Native communities, Black and other people of color communities, and financially poor communities are bearing the brunt of these corporate, profit-driven activities. Specifically, we strategize and take action to end:

  • fracked gas pipelines, like the proposed Atlantic Coast Pipeline

  • coal ash pollution, caused principally by Duke Energy in NC

  • Biogas from confined animal feeding operations (CAFOs)/factory farms

  • Biomass from forest destruction, most significantly forest destruction for the production of wood pellets for international sale as energy source
